Robert Fraser lived in White Plains, New York until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age seventeen. After completing his peace time tour of duty as a sergeant, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he initially attended the Junior College of Broward County. He transferred to the University of Florida, graduating in 1970 with a degree in journalism.
